The Journées Européennes des Métiers d’Art (JEMA) — European Artistic Crafts Days — return to Geneva, Vaud, Ticino, Jura, and the city of Bern starting today, Friday, 27 March through to Sunday, 29 March 2026.

For three days, the public can immerse themselves in the fascinating world of artistic and passionate craftspeople — individuals who perpetuate rare and valued skills. Join them in their workshops, studios and shops.

Organized every spring in more than 20 countries, JEMA is the largest, entirely free event dedicated to artistic crafts and living-heritage trades in Europe.

Aimed at young people seeking training, adults who are retraining, and a curious and passionate public alike, JEMA celebrate excellence and the transmission of unique skills.

These crafts, rooted in our heritage and contemporary world, promote high-value skills, support sustainable economic growth, and continue to create meaning in a context where artificial intelligence is transforming our practices.

An event at the heart of living heritage

JEMA invite you to discover the richness and diversity of artistic crafts: cutlers, ceramicists, jewelers, cabinetmakers, paper cutters, musical instrument makers, glassblowers, seamstresses and so many more.

In total, more than 150 craftspeople and a dozen cultural institutions open their doors across Switzerland with a common desire: to share their passion and (some of) their secrets.

A rich and interactive program

Demonstrations, open houses, participatory workshops for young and old: get involved and discover rare trades, observe meticulous techniques and talk with skilled professionals.

Consult the directory of artisans to find the creative trades that most interest you. Stop by for an illuminating experience; most events do not need pre-registration.

You’ll come away with a deeper appreciation for the skills that make Switzerland so rich in creative talent and expertise.

Focus on Geneva

One hundred and seven artisans, student-artisans in training, and cultural institutions are showcasing their skills across Geneva during Métiers d’Art Genève (MAG) in conjunction with JEMA.

MAG is a non-profit association working with local artisans to promote, unite and defend their crafts, ensuring the preservation of unique time-honoured skills.

Activities and events continue today and tomorrow across Geneva at 15 participating workshops, on 12 cultural trails and in situ at the Sicli Pavilion: some events require registration but many do not.

You’re sure to find something that intrigues and possibly motivates you to learn a new skill or improve one that possibly has fallen by the wayside. Hoping you find your inspiration!
