Eat fresh, seasonal, local at Geneva’s Veggie Week 2018

Aimed at vegetarians, vegans and yes, meat eaters, too, this two-week event runs from the 4th — 17th of June and serves up a feast for the eyes and the stomach by means of the freshest produce available from local kitchen gardens.

Spring shoots, sundried tomatoes and asparagus with a cucumber vinaigrette by Chef Alessio Corda of the Living Room Bar & Kitchen at the Ritz Carlton Hôtel de la Paix.

Initiated last year by top chefs of the city’s 5-star hotel-restaurants, 67 new gastronomic creations impressed food lovers of all culinary persuasions. This year, 12 chefs carry on that tradition, promising to tantalize with flavors sourced from multiple ethnic influences. So you can expect your taste buds to travel from India to Italy via France depending on your choice of restaurant.

Whether the goal is to celebrate tofu and seeds, to recreate meat dishes in a vegetarian version or to give an original twist to a tried-and-true classic, each chef has carte blanche to realise his vision of a vegetarian or vegan creation.

Valaisan apricots, bitter almond, “Oompa Loompa” beans and lemon verbena from the garden by Chef Colin Rey of L’Auberge d’Hermance.

Led by a VIP ambassador from the Domaine de Châteauvieux’s two-star gourmet restaurant, Chef Damien Coche, participating establishments include the Loti, the Gusto, the Brewery of the Parc des Eaux-Vives, the Rasoi by Vineet, the Garden, the Living Room Bar & Kitchen, the Terrace, as well as the Chat-Botté, the Auberge d’Hermance, the Tiffany and the Woods.

To find out more about participating restaurants, chefs and menu proposals, and for booking information, consult the official Veggie Week 2018 website under: Restaurants & Menus.

All that remains to be said is Bon appetit (and as your mom would say, eat your veg!
