Never one to rest on its laurels when it comes to celebrating Christmas in style, the City of Geneva has added 11 new light installations to the already impressive seven that comprised the Geneva Lux Festival in 2015.

The city almost seems to be in competition with itself, striving year upon year to better its Christmas installations to the benefit of residents and tourists alike. If anyone knows of another city that renews rather than repeats itself so creatively with each Christmas season, then drop me a line and tell me all about it!

In total, the Geneva Lux Festival 2016 features 17 light installations scattered across the central Geneva area on both sides of the lake between Plainpalais and Le Pâquis. In this, its third edition, the Festival includes an installation by a new Swiss artist and two works from students of Geneva’s Haute Ecole d’Art et de Design (HEAD) in addition to contributions from other Swiss and European artists.

You can find the location and a full description (in French) of each installation on the Geneva Lux Festival homepage but to give you a taste of what you’ll find if you venture into the city, here are a few examples of the extraordinary new light displays that you can feast your eyes on this Christmas and until the end of January 2017. ♥
