THE BIANNUAL creative fair “UniCréa: Art, Fashion and Deco” opens for its 36th edition next weekend at the renaissance-era Château de la Sarraz, found between Lausanne and Yverdon-les-Bains and accessible by car or train (the station is five minutes by foot).
More than a hundred European designers proudly present their unique, largely handmade pieces of art (paintings, sculpture), fashion (clothes, shoes and jewellery) and decor (furniture, lamps, accessories) that celebrate the seven “Universes” of wood, metal, earth, glass, textiles, stone and paint.

Each year, designers are tasked with creating a unique piece based on a theme chosen by Céline Dreveton, UniCréa’s creator and organiser. This year’s theme “Thinking Outside the Box” guarantees interesting flights of imagination.
You’re sure to find creations unlike any found elsewhere. It’s also satisfying that purchasing an item from participants means you’re supporting independent creative artists and small businesses.

It also means your purchases will partly go to support a charitable foundation, with a new one selected every year by the event’s organisers. This year, proceeds will help Le Relais, which for more than 50 years has promoted the social and professional integration of adults and young adults with significant social, psychological and financial challenges.
Something for everyone
At Unicréa, even children get their creative moment. From age 5, they can let their imagination run wild in a creative workshop (parents can either stay or go shop), with all necessary materials provided. One- or 2-hour workshops take place throughout Saturday and Sunday at a cost of CHF10/hour. Interested? Register your child in advance (click on “Registration form” under Creative Workshops).
