Marion Jiranek, Prangins, Bienheureux Lèche-Loup! On view at La Galerie Esquisse in Nyon until 3 November.
THE LAST time artist Marion Jiranek exhibited her wonderful watercolours locally was at the 2016 Palette Carougeoise in Carouge when she walked away with the event’s top prize, the Prix de la Ville de Carouge, for her 360-degree panorama of St Pierre Cathedral courtyard in Geneva’s Old Town.
So I was delighted to learn that she would be even closer to (my) home with her latest show — Nyon, The Treasures of the District and the Beauties of the Léman — as she’s taken up residence (together with her studio) at La Galerie Esquisse in Nyon until 3 November.
In her past works, Marion’s sketches of cats and fairies, depictions of peaceful forest settings, and panoramas of city, village and countryside scenes captured their subjects with a loving eye for detail, a gift for fantasy, touches of whimsy, as well as oodles of charm.

All of these attributes shine in her latest collection of paintings that capture the beauty and charm of Lémanique villages including Nyon, Coppet, Tartegnin, Bursins, Gingins, Luins and many others.
She also depicts sweeping landscapes including one from the top of the Dôle looking down over Lac Léman with the majestic, snow-covered French Alps in the distance.
In this exhibition, Marion invites art lovers to discover the “hidden side of this well-known country … (to) savour, through the eyes of painting, what cities and villages could look like … (to) dream in these half-open windows on a more beautiful universe.”
Don’t miss this opportunity to meet Marion and to see this ‘hidden world’ for yourself.
Fun tip: be sure to view her depictions of Nyon and then go off and discover how they compare to the real thing nearby! ♥
